About Declan Rothwell
Classical Five Element Acupuncture tells us that every human being has a natural ability to self-heal and return to full health. My responsibility as your practitioner is to help you awaken this response.
My name is Declan Rothwell and I have been practising Classical Five Element Acupuncture for over 15 years. I enjoy practising this very effective and unique style of Chinese Medicine which directly addresses the cause of illness. Over that time I have successfully helped patients with arthritis; back pain; stress; anxiety/depression; headaches/migraines; sports injuries and digestive problems.This list is not exhaustive - it is a very effective system of medicine! In addition I have an excellent working relationship with a number of Doctors who refer patients. I received my Certificate in Advanced Teacher Training from the Worsley Institute in 2007 and have been teaching in London at the London Institute of Five Element Acupuncture whilst running my practice in Dublin.We have set up a College of Five Element Acupuncture here in Ireland - www.cofea.ie - and are planning to start teaching our 3 year programme in September 2012.
I also run a busy T'ai Chi School with other teachers in Dublin.

Declan Rothwell has a B.Sc.(Hons) from Trinity College, Dublin and graduated from the College of Traditional Acupuncture (UK) in 1997 with his Licentiate in Acupuncture (Lic. Ac.) and has been practicing ever since. Declan studied with Prof JR and Judy Worsley after graduation. JR Worsley was a Master of Classical Five-Element Acupuncture and when he passed away in 2003 he designated JB Worsley to be his successor - Declan continues to undertake postgraduate work with JB Worsley in the Master Apprentice Programme .Judy Worsley regularly comes to Declan's practice to see patients on a consultative basis.

I have been attending treatment and at the risk of sounding dramatic I would say that it is one of the top life changing experiences of my life. My motivation for commencing treatment stemmed from general physical unease and exhaustion. Spring is in the air! The burst of activity which surges out of the stillness of winter has no equal elsewhere in the year; new energy and dynamic growth pours out bringing life and vigour to everything. The colours of the daffodils and crocuses and the cherry blossom are a relief after the stark and bleak outlines of the winter horizon. Spring lambs are starting to emerge jumping around the fields as they do! So this is a time of growth birth hope and new life. The ancient Chinese observed that the same dynamic that is in nature is within us - we are part of nature and experience the same yearly cycle inside ourselves - spring energy manifests in us as the Wood Element.
